New Chipset in town – Qualcomm SnapDragon 845

Every time we think we got the Latest Mobile processor in our Smartphones, Qualcomm surprises us. This time, only with Qualcomm SnapDragon 845!!!

Lets’ talk about what Qualcomm got to offer us with its Latest Mobile Processing Unit !!

The Qualcomm SnapDragon 845 Processor is codenamed (which can easily be decoded) SDM845. It is ideal for premium mobile experiences and is meant for high-end smartphones. It also supports new architectures for AI and immersive Virtual Reality, as well as gigabit LTE and a new security architecture.

+ Qualcomm Spectra™ 280 ISP: Ultra HD

Premium video capture and playback, plus dual ISPs supporting up to 32MP camera for next generation imaging.

+ Qualcomm Adreno™ 630 Visual :

Processing Subsystem: New architecture designed for transforming the video capture experience and extending realities with enhanced XR.

+ Qualcomm Hexagon™ 685 DSP:

With it, 3rd-generation platform for highly advanced on-device AI user experiences for camera, voice, XR and gaming.

+ Qualcomm Snapdragon™ X20 LTE modem:

Mobile connectivity with LTE download speeds up to 1.2 Gbps, multi-gigabit 802.11ad, and integrated 2×2 802.11ac Wi-Fi with MU-MIMO.

+ Qualcomm Kryo™ 385 CPU:

Manufactured in 10nm LPP, optimized across 4 performance and 4 efficiency cores.

The chipset is designed mainly for tech savvy users to cope up with the multitask issue and lag-free environment. To ensure users best-WiFi experience, they have implemented their very own X20 LTE Modem. It also supports License Assisted Access (LAA) for unlicensed spectrum, 5x carrier aggregation, 4×4 MIMO on up to 3 carriers, and dual SIM-dual VoLTE !

But the thing which attracted me so much in Qualcomm SnapDragon 845, it’s their Secure Processing Unit (SPU). This dedicated piece of silicon acts as a security vault for any saved biometric information, such as fingerprint, IRIS, or Face Scans, and other things which might be on their system arch.

Don’t forget Fast Charge, which is bundled with the chipset too,  which has been upgraded to Quick Charge 4+, which is designed to keep devices cooler, charge up to 30 percent more efficiently, and 15 percent faster than last year’s Quick Charge 4 standard.

Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 is expected to begin shipping in commercial devices in early 2018. Xiaomi has already confirmed it will be using the 845 in its next flagship smartphones, and we can be sure Top companies like OnePlus will begin putting this Chipset in their phones quickly.
